It has several media keys along the top, which lets you control video or audio through the keyboard. This model is also wireless and only requires two AAA batteries, which can provide up to two years of power. There is an automatic sleep mode that conserves battery life, but you might not like the brief wait for it to restart between uses. The Logitech Wireless Desktop MK710 With Mouse and Keyboard Mice Combo Sets has two sets of legs that raise the keyboard 4 degrees or 8 degrees. The keys are all neat little incurved squares that provide a soft typing experience. On the far right there is a numeric key pad for number crunchers. Above the lettered keys are the function keys that also have designated shortcut features. For instance, press fn + F1 to bring up your browser, fn + F2 to bring up Outlook, fn + F11 to bring up Microsoft Word, and so on. There are also designated standalone quick keys such as a calculator and eject button.
There’s an LED screen at the top center of the keyboard that tracks your battery life, and button selections such as Num Lock and Caps Lock. On either side of the LED screen are media player buttons to play, fast forward, rewind, pause and control volume. At the base of the MK710 is a soft rubber palm rest that helped raise my hands and improve my wrist posture and provide comfort when typing all day.
Framing the keys on the interior of the keyboard is a shiny black gloss-finish that I found attracted dust and smudge marks. This issue is minor, as a rag of shirt sleeve will easily clean up any blemishes.
The MK700 runs on 2 AA batteries (included) boasts up to 3 years of battery life. The keyboard is wireless and uses a 2.4GHz USB thumb drive receiver to connect to your PC. However, this USB receiver is special, utilizing Logitech’s Unifying USB technology. This feature allows you to sync up to 6 Logitech devices to one USB dongle. The MK710 bundle came with one USB, so users can sync the M705 mouse and MK700 keyboard.
Other features include the SetPoint software that can optionally be downloaded via Logitech’s website or included CD. From this software you can change function key settings, check battery life, and unify other devices with the USB.

Perfect HTPC mini keyboard
I learned about this keyboard several months ago when it was announced on Engadget, but at that time it was $90+ and only available from some shady mailorder sites.
This is a TV remote control sized full keyboard with a touchpad.
I finally ordered one from Amazon last week for $60. I got it very promptly – about 5 days.
It looks exactly like the one in the photos. It’s very thin and contains a rechargeable lithium battery. It has a mini USB receiver that hides in a compartment in the keyboard. The keyboard itself also has a micro USB jack for recharging either from a PC’s USB jack or a USB charger (the keyboard itself didn’t come with a charger).
The touchpad works extremely well (better than your average laptop touchpad) and you also have keyboard arrows under the touchpad. There are HTPC controls along the top and just about any function a regular keyboard can do it can do via a function key – even CTRL-ALT-DEL. It’s even got a back…
